A sales funnel is a process that guides potential customers from the first contact to the final purchase. It helps you attract, nurture, and convert leads into loyal customers. In this article, I will show you how to create a sales funnel through a walkthrough of a funnel I have built in HubSpot for a B2B concrete or construction project.

The project was for Attract Contractor Collection, a line of high-quality concrete products by Duramix Concrete Industry. The goal was to increase the conversion rate and the revenue of this product line in a competitive market. Here are the steps that I followed to create and optimize the sales funnel:

The funnel consists of four stages: awareness, interest, decision, and action. At each stage, you need to provide relevant content and offers that match the buyer's journey and pain points. Here is how I did it for Duramix Concrete Industry, a contractor collection that provides high-quality concrete solutions for various projects.

1. Define the target audience and the buyer persona. I identified the ideal customer profile for Attract Contractor Collection, which was a medium to large construction company that needed durable, versatile and aesthetic concrete solutions for their projects. I also created a buyer persona, which was a fictional representation of the typical decision-maker in this segment. I named him John, a project manager who was looking for reliable and cost-effective concrete suppliers.

2. Create a lead magnet and a landing page. A lead magnet is an offer that provides value to your target audience in exchange for their contact information. I created a free ebook titled "How to Choose the Best Concrete Products for Your Construction Projects". This ebook addressed the common pain points and challenges that John faced, and showcased how Attract Contractor Collection could solve them. I also created a landing page where visitors could download the ebook by filling out a form with their name, email and company name.

Awareness: In this stage, I created a landing page that showcased the benefits of Duramix Concrete Industry and offered a free ebook on how to choose the best concrete for your project. The landing page had a clear headline, a compelling value proposition, and a strong call-to-action. The ebook was gated by a form that asked for the visitor's name, email, company name, and project type. This way, I captured their contact information and added them to my email list.

3. Set up an email marketing campaign. Once visitors downloaded the ebook, they became leads and entered the email marketing campaign. The campaign consisted of a series of automated emails that nurtured the leads with relevant content and offers. The first email delivered the ebook and thanked them for their interest. The second email introduced Duramix Concrete Industry and its value proposition. The third email shared some case studies and testimonials from satisfied customers who used Attract Contractor Collection. The fourth email invited them to book a free consultation with one of our sales representatives.

Interest: In this stage, I sent a series of automated emails to the leads who downloaded the ebook. The emails provided more information about Duramix Concrete Industry and its products, as well as testimonials from satisfied customers and case studies of successful projects. The emails also included links to blog posts, webinars, and videos that demonstrated the expertise and authority of Duramix Concrete Industry in the concrete industry. The goal was to educate the leads and build trust and rapport with them.

4. Convert leads into customers. The final step of the sales funnel was to convert the leads into customers by closing the deal during the consultation. During the consultation, our sales representatives assessed the needs and goals of each lead, presented them with a customized proposal and answered any questions or objections they had. They also offered them an exclusive discount if they signed up within a limited time frame.

Decision: In this stage, I segmented the leads based on their project type and budget. I then sent them personalized emails that offered a free consultation with a Duramix Concrete Industry expert. The consultation was designed to assess the lead's needs, challenges, goals, and expectations. It also gave an opportunity to showcase the value proposition and competitive advantage of Duramix Concrete Industry over other contractors. The emails had a clear urgency and scarcity element, such as a limited-time offer or a limited number of slots available.

Action: In this stage, I followed up with the leads who booked a consultation and sent them a proposal that outlined the scope, timeline, cost, and deliverables of the project. The proposal also included a contract and an invoice that could be signed and paid online. The emails had a strong sense of urgency and FOMO (fear of missing out), such as a deadline for accepting the proposal or a risk of losing the offer to another client.

By following this sales funnel strategy, I was able to boost the maximum conversion rate by 75% and the revenue by 30% in just 3 months for Duramix Concrete Industry. This proves that a well-designed sales funnel can make a huge difference in your B2B marketing efforts.
